We quote before we start. No surprises.
UGO is a family of eight products built in Buea, Cameroon: digital signage, USB over IP, live auctions, China sourcing, web development, a gospel media library, a tech blog and an SMS, WhatsApp and USSD messaging gateway. We make the tools we wish had existed when we needed them.
It is how those two words sound in Pidgin English, the language of everyday conversation across West Africa, and the one most people speak day to day in the South West and North West of Cameroon. We took the name from the street, not from a dictionary.
“You go market.”
In Pidgin, that means you have gone to the market. Three words, no ceremony: you went somewhere, and you got there.
It is about going.
Every product here exists to help you get somewhere: to the market, to a shop on the other side of the world, to a screen across town, to a computer that is far away.
It is said the way people really talk.
Pidgin is short, warm and direct. We want our products to feel the same: nothing to decode, nothing to translate.
It is also about having gone.
“You go market” means the trip is done. We build for the arrival: the order delivered, the campaign on the screen, the payment released, the message answered.
The logo is the word itself, written the way it is said: lowercase, rounded and open. A u that holds like a cup, a g whose tail is set loose beneath it like a smile, and a plain round o. Nothing is added to the letters, because the name is the message.
You go. We help you get there.
We quote before we start. No surprises.
Slow networks, power cuts and mobile-first customers are the design brief, not edge cases.
We are from Buea and we build for the people here first.
WhatsApp is our front desk.
You can always see where your order, repair or campaign stands.
We ship, listen and ship again.
